Cosmetic Dentistry
For teeth that are stained, chipped, gapped or crooked: see your options side by side, then plan the right one with Dr. Adli.
Is It Right for You
Cosmetic Dentistry, Matched to What You Want to Change
Cosmetic dentistry improves how your teeth look: their color, shape, length, spacing and alignment. Most people who come to us in Long Beach have one thing in mind, like a chipped front tooth, coffee stains that brushing won’t lift, or a gap they hide in photos.
You don’t need to know the name of the treatment. Tell us what bothers you, and Dr. Adli will explain which options suit your teeth, what each one involves, and what it can’t do. Sometimes the simplest option is the right one.
Step by Step
How Your Cosmetic Plan Comes Together
Each treatment has its own steps, explained on its own page. This is how planning works for all of them.
-
A Consultation About Your Goals
Tell us what you’d like to change. Dr. Adli examines your teeth, gums and bite, then talks you through the options that fit, including what each can and can’t do.
-
Healthy Teeth and Gums First
Cosmetic work lasts best on a healthy base. If we find decay or gum disease, we treat it before anything cosmetic.
-
The Order and the Shade
If your plan includes whitening, it usually comes first, so new bonding, veneers or crowns can be matched to your brighter shade.
-
Your Treatment
Before you start, you’ll know what each visit involves and roughly how long the whole plan will take. Nothing is done until you’ve agreed to it.
-
Looking After the Result
We check the result and your bite, and show you how to care for it. Regular check-ups keep cosmetic work looking its best.

Cost and Insurance
Paying for Cosmetic Treatment
Dental insurance usually treats purely cosmetic work, such as whitening, as elective, so it’s often not covered. When a treatment also repairs damage, like a crown on a broken tooth, your plan may pay part of it. We’ll check your benefits and go through the cost with you before you decide.
- Insurance
- Most PPO plans, including Delta Dental, MetLife, Cigna, Aetna, Guardian, Operating Engineers and ILWU
- Financing
- Monthly payments through CareCredit or Sunbit
Questions
Cosmetic Dentistry Questions
It depends on what you want to change and on the health of your teeth. Whitening changes color, bonding and veneers change shape and color, and orthodontics moves the teeth. At your consultation, Dr. Adli will explain the options that fit and the trade-offs of each.
Most cosmetic treatments are comfortable. Whitening can make teeth sensitive for a short time. When a tooth needs shaping, as it does for veneers, the area is numbed first. We’ll tell you what to expect before each step.
No. Whitening only lightens natural enamel. If you’d like whiter teeth and new cosmetic work, whiten first, so the new work can be matched to your brighter shade.
Usually not when the treatment is purely cosmetic. If it also restores a damaged tooth, your plan may cover part of it. We accept most PPO plans and will check your benefits for you. CareCredit and Sunbit offer monthly payment plans.
It depends on the treatment and on how you care for it. Porcelain veneers are durable and resist stains. Whitening fades gradually, faster with coffee, tea, red wine or smoking, and can be touched up. Regular check-ups help all cosmetic work last.
